Who we are

The Reader Journal (“the journal,” “we,” “us”) is an independent editorial website. The data controller for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the publisher of The Reader Journal. You can reach us through the contact page.

Information we collect

The journal does not require an account. We do not sell anything. We do not collect names, addresses, payment details, or any other personally identifiable information that you do not voluntarily send us by email.

We may collect, with your consent, basic anonymous analytics about page visits — pages viewed, approximate country of origin, the device type used, and the referring website. This information is aggregated and is not linked to you personally.

If you write to the editorial address listed on the contact page, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply.

Cookies

The journal uses a single first-party cookie (or browser storage item) to remember whether you accepted or declined optional analytics. No third-party tracking cookies are placed before you accept. See our cookie policy for the full list.

Lawful basis

Where we process any personal data within the EU/UK, our lawful basis is consent (for optional analytics) and legitimate interest (for security and abuse prevention).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information we hold about you, to withdraw consent, to object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, please write to us via the contact page.

Retention

Anonymous analytics, if enabled, are retained for no longer than twelve months. Email correspondence is retained for as long as is reasonable to handle the conversation, then deleted.

Children

The journal is not directed to children under 16 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

International transfers

If our hosting or analytics providers store data outside your country of residence, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The most recent revision date is shown at the top of the page.
